This Week on Hebrews

For this week, Steven O at Biblically Speaking has a reflection on Hebrews 10:24-25.

Brian LePort at Near Emmaus has begun to investigate the eschatology of Hebrews. I offered a cursory bibliography of articles on eschatology in the comments section. He also has an outline of the new book on Hebrews, The Epistle to the Hebrews and Christian Theology, edited by Richard Bauckham. The book is one of two books that spun off from the Hebrews and Theology Conference at St. Andrews in 2006, which I attended. I have a link to the site under Resources. He also has a quote by Thomas Long on the Mystery of Corporate Worship.

As for myself, I have not posted much lately because I am working hard on the dissertation. I am trying to get one component done before I go away for the last two weeks of June. I hope to get back to blogging in earnest in July.

This Week on Hebrews

Darrell Pursiful's fourth installation of his series on the Hermeneutical Key to the Book of Hebrews can be found here.

Logismoi has a post on Melchizedek, which includes excerpts from St. Nicholas, St. Maximus the Confessor, and a poem by John Henry Newman.

A New Book - - - To Me

This afternoon I checked out a new book on Hebrews from the Baylor library which I had never heard of before:

Hong Pal Ha, Heb 1:2-3, The Threefold Characterization of the Person of Christ as Prerequisite for the Fulfillment of a Complete Atonement. Korean Sahmyook University Monographs Doctoral Dissertation Series, Volume 4. Seoul, Korea: Institute for Theological Research, 1996.

The blurb on the front flap says that the author is (was?) Professor of New Testament studies at the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies, Silang, Cavite, the Republic of the Philippines. His dissertation was completed at the same institution. The blurb on the back flap is in Korean (I am a little rusty in that language).

Granted that the dissertation was completed and published in Asia, I am still surprised that I had never encountered this book before, considering it was published 13 years ago. I usually try to stay current on what is being published on Hebrews.
